Got some time to give? Or some pet food?
With Tampa's Super Bowl over and Gasparilla behind us, you might have some free time on the weekend. Tampabay.com's Do Good channel has some suggestions if you're interested in giving back to the community. You can donate, volunteer or attend a fun event to help local organizations:
Donate to the Humane Society of Tampa Bay: The Humane Society needs pet food, pet toys, cat litter (non-clumping), washable dog beds and dog & cat shampoo. Read the full list of needs and more info.
Sponsor Adopt-a-Meal for cancer patients' families: Twice a month, the Children's Cancer Center in Tampa provides dinner for a support group for about 40 families who have a child undergoing cancer treatment. The cancer center is looking for businesses to sponsor their Adopt-a-Meal program. Restaurants also may donate a fully-catered meal for about 100 people. Get more info.
Attend the Bowling Ball: Whether you bowl a 300 or 100, it doesn't matter. Everyone is invited to strike out prostate cancer at the Bowling Ball on Feb. 18 at Splitsville in Channelside. Find out how to register.
