How do you find discounts when shopping for food?

Food critic Laura Reiley writes in today's St. Petersburg Times about a creative cook who works hard to keep the family's food expenses down.

If you walk a mile in WMNF DJ Jennifer Hollowell's shoes, you may discover that shopping for food bargains isn't that tough. You just have to think outside the supermarket and inside the wholesalers and farmers' markets.

After seeing the price of a container of tahini rise from $4 ito $7, Hollowell, buys ingredients to make her own. She plans her meals before her weekly shopping trips to the Tampa Produce Market and wholesale Sanwa market.

In these tough economic times, many of us are cooking more at home. What are you doing to cut back on your grocery bills? Are you shopping at discount stores? Buying in bulk or switching to generic brands? Share your strategies.
