Joshua Dean West was arrested Tuesday on three third-degree felony charges in connection with the April crash that severed 20-year-old Andrew Hall's leg and left him near death alongside a Safety Harbor street.

The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office charged West, 24, (shown in inset photo) with driving under the influence causing serious bodily injury; leaving the scene of a crash with injury or death; and having no valid driver's license while causing serious bodily injury.

Hall, who has been at Bayfront Medical Center since the April 20 crash, reacted to the good news:

"I just wish, like anybody else who was injured as a victim, to get justice, so I'm happy Joshua is where he is," said Hall, shown in photo on right. "My blessings go upon the judge that he gets a fair trial, but I'm confident and happy knowing that I was served and content that now he's where he needs to be."

TampaBay.com readers had some harsh words for driver Joshua West, but mostly they offered praise for Hall:

"Andrew -- you rock!" wrote Shannon from Pasco.

Kevin from Palm Harbor wrote: "Andrew, the hand you were delt was a tough one to start with and now this! You are quite an inspiration to many. Justice will prevail."

"Mr. Hall has impressed me from the very beginning," wrote JoJo from Largo. "What a wonderful individual. God bless you, Andrew, and keep you safe."
