Information from the 1940 U.S. Census will hit the Internet today, making public important information about more than 21 million people from the United States and Puerto Rico who were counted in the 16th federal census, which follows a decade that included  the Great Depression and black migration from the rural South. An interactive Website is available to help people sort through the information.
