Links to the Times for Aug. 6: Hispanic vote critical to campaigns
There's a mad scramble under way for Florida's Hispanic vote, the fastest growing voter base. The Latino vote is projected to increase to 1.6 million voters by 2012, and already the race to reach them is heating up. One television ad in Spanish airing in Tampa, Miami and Orlando last month marked the opening shot in what will be a fierce battle for the Hispanic vote, an exploding force that could determine whether President Barack Obama gets re-elected. An ad from Crossroads GPS in Spanish takes on Obama, and the Democratic National Committee responded with a Spanish language ad of its own. Meanwhile, the Republican National Committee has released a radio ad in Spanish.
