Feeling the music
Naomi Houston, 16, is almost completely deaf. A junior at Gibbs High School and a dancer, Naomi says she feels the music. “Basically I rely on the vibration of the music,” she says. “I might be one count or two counts behind so I’m always watching someone for the count.” See a photo gallery of Houston.
Lowry Park Zoo accreditation temporarily suspended
The prestigious Association of Zoos and Aquariums said the suspension is based on a review of Lowry Park Zoo's procedures for acquiring or transferring animals. This is the latest in a series of challenges the zoo has faced. In September Tampa City officials questioned the zoo's decision to build two animal-holding structures on private land owned by a corporation headed by zoo president Lex Salisbury.
