Car perks: Mayor Bill Foster defended car allowances as a necessary perk to keep his top administrators and managers from leaving for greener pastures. But this week, after the Times reported that 141 employees get the perk at an annual cost of more than $200,000, he said he'd like to verify if those employees actually need it — in 2013.

Theater raid: Israeli commandos stormed a famous Palestinian theater in the West Bank early Wednesday, arresting two men associated with it and damaging the building, a witness said.
