Links from Times: Video of Paris Avenue commemoration, Eaglet rescue, Kristof

Family and friends of a slain 8-year-old girl cheered Monday morning as city workers pulled a Preston Avenue street sign out of the ground. They said that the commemoration on Paris Whitehead-Hamilton, a third-grader who was gunned down in her home one year ago Monday made them feel like her death was not in vain.

SECOND EAGLET FALLS: Unlike the one that fell from the Dunedin nest Sunday, it appears mostly unharmed — but it seems clear one of the two fallen chicks is Hoover, an orphaned juvenile placed there last month.

NICHOLAS KRISTOF AT PALLADIUM: New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof will speak at 7 p.m. tonight at the Palladium, 253 Fifth Ave. N in downtown St Petersburg. The event, which is co-sponsored by the Florida Holocaust Museum, is free, but seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information, call the museum at (727) 820-0100 or click here.
