Dream guests for dinner party: A random collection of people who have spoken or presented at the annual TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) conference.

Favorite Florida getaway: Driving all the way across State Road 60 to visit friends in Vero Beach.

Fave vacation outside Florida? A week in London.

If I had $1 million
: I'd retire to upstate South Carolina and open up a genealogy-themed bed-and-breakfast.

Book on nightstand: "Making It All Work" by David Allen.

Tampa Bay insider secret: The Manatee Viewing Center at Apollo Beach.

 If I were in charge of Florida's schools: I'd work to increase the amount of money spent per student so that Florida was in the top 10.
