See photos: St. Petersburg's waterfront parks
This year, St. Petersburg is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the creation of one of its defining jewels, the waterfront park system. So for the rest of the year, the St. Petersburg Times plans a series of photographs focusing on the waterfront's highlights and hidden gems. View a photo gallery by Times photographers and see photos from readers below.

Jack Swenningsen, a 93-year-old photographer, took these two photos, above and below, recently at our "magnificent waterfront in St.Petersburg, a place for kids, the working class, and seniors to explore, walk, fish, etc., and generally have fun and relax."
Swenningsen shot this silhouette in Sawgrass Lake Park, after asking a man and his son if they would pose for him.
Herb Anderson took these pictures -- above and below -- during an early morning walk in downtown St. Petersburg. "What a wonderful way to begin your day," he wrote.
Velva Lee Heraty of St. Petersburg snapped this photo of Vinoy Park at dawn.
Velva Lee Heraty took these 2 photos -- above and below at Albert Whitted "the-best-kept-secret" Park.
