She's a news junkie and a tampabay.com Facebook fan
Today we introduce you to Liisa Hyvarinen Temple, an avid follower of tampabay.com's The Buzz and The Feed blogs. Temple played along with our Q&A, sharing her thoughts on her favorite Web sites, fabulous Florida getaways and how she'd spend $1 million (first, a new house).
Where you live: Tampa.
Profession: Journalism professor at University of South Florida.
Five must-visit sites in the morning: When school is in session: tampabay.com, tbo.com, HeraldTribune, com, LakelandLedger.com, FloridaFocus (USF student newscast) and afghanistanmylasttour.com (her husband's blog).
Dream guests for a dinner party: President Obama, Michelle Obama -- I like that she picked military families as her cause. Also would like Jimmy Carter and Rosalynn Carter because of her interest in mental health issues.
Favorite Florida getaway: Anna Maria Island or deep sea fishing with my husband.
Favorite vacation outside Florida: Finland, where her family lives; France, Italy.
If I had $1 million: I'd probably buy a new house, donate some, invest some in college fund for nieces and nephews, travel to Machu Picchu.
Book on your nightstand: I Am the Grand Canyon: The Story of the Havasupai People by Stephen Hirst.
If I were governor: I would try to find more money for education. I know this sounds self-centered, but my course-load is ridiculous. How well can you teach when you have four to five classes? We've got a lot of smart kids here, I want to give them everything they need, there's only so much you can do.
Personal Web site: WUSF bio page
