Sign of the times: No need to get out of the car to toy shop
I was struck by this sign I spotted outside Learning Express in Westchase recently: We no longer need to get out of our cars even to shop for toys. Will parents now drive through the ATM, drive through Starbucks for a latte, then drive up and order that special birthday gift?
I asked store manager Patty Benfante about the service. She said the store has always offered the parking lot service for customers, but the sign is fairly new. Parents can call from the parking lot with the age of a child and amount they want to spend or browse online first, Benfante said.
"It's perfect if it's raining or you have a sleeping child in the car," she noted.
What do you think? Is browsing becoming a thing of the past?
