St. Petersburg High class ring from 1947 ends up in Australia
At first it was thought it was a Major League Baseball championship ring that had been turned in with a box of lost items at the South Melbourne Market in Australia. But upon closer inspection, it was determined to be a class ring from a school thousands of miles away in Florida.
Police in Melbourne are now looking for the owner, which St. Petersburg High officials have confirmed to be a graduation ring. It's thought to belong to William C. Yarbrough, who was president of the Drama Club, homeroom vice president and a member of the Chemistry Club, according to a story on the Port Phillip Review website.
Know anything about the ring or the person who owned it? The reporter, Beau Donelly, would love to hear from you. Email him at firstname.lastname@example.org.
