Your photos: Look up! It's the Blue Angels flying in for Airfest
Andrea Walker of South Tampa was on the outdoor deck of Big Mo's Sport Bar on Dale Mabry Highway yesterday when she spotted the Blue Angels arriving at MacDill Air Force Base for the weekend's Airfest. She shared some of the great photos she snapped of the precision flying team.
The pilots showed off some skills as they "flew by me upside down," Walker wrote.
MacDill Airfest is the event that makes both military buffs and tiny tots gape in awe. It takes off this weekend with tens of thousands of spectators, all looking up.
Admission and parking are free, but the lines will be long to get there. So plan on going early, taking sunscreen and having a little patience, Whoa Momma! suggests.
The Blue Angels are set to perform at 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. You'll also see a variety of aircraft and demonstrations in the air and on the ground, including the B-25 medium bomber, F-15E Strike Eagle modern fighter, P-51 Mustang fighter, T-6 Texan and parachute jumpers. See macdill-airfest.com for a full schedule.
Walker's insider tip: Big Mo's is not far from MacDill Air Force base and is a great spot to watch the shows if you don't want to fight the crowds, she says. View more of her photos in our Community Photo Gallery.
