Your travel photos: Festivals and fireworks in Transylvania
We love to see summer travel photos from tampabay.com readers. Andrea Lypka, a graduate student at USF, St. Petersburg, shared some great pictures from Transylvania this weekend. She is there for St. Stephen's Day, the biggest holiday for Hungarians.
Hungarians all over the world celebrated St. Stephen’s Day, the patron saint of Hungary, on August 20 with festivals and fireworks, Lypka wrote. In Cluj- Napoca and surrounding communities in Transylvania the Heltai Gáspár Library Foundation and the Szarkaláb folk-dance group organized the 11th International ‘Szent István’ Folk-Dance Festival.
At the festival, 350 folk dancers from eight countries- Slovakia, Serbia, Hungary, Romania, Croatia, Greece, Italy -- dressed in their national costume, celebrated with folk dances and folk music, and attended Mass at St. Stephen’s Catholic Cathedral on Sunday.
