Lazaro Arbos' American Idol audition and previous story about him

When Lazaro Arbos auditioned for American Idol, he was familiar to several folks with ties to the Tampa Bay area. Lazaro was part of a Times story in 2004 called Sean's echo. It told how the parents of another child who stuttered were able to help Lazaro when their own son, Sean, died at age 10. They donated the device that had helped their son with his stammer to Lazaro.

Manti Te'o recounted the whole, strange episode of the alleged hoax he was incolved in with a ficticious girlfriend in an interview with Katie Couric that was broadcast Thursday. Jill Kelley, Tampa socialite connected to Petraeus scandal, ends her silence

Jill Kelley, the woman who unwittingly triggered a scandal that ended the career of former CIA director David Petraeus, ended a long silence Tuesday, excoriating the media and Petraeus’ former mistress for upending her family’s life. In an interview with The Daily Beast and an opinion piece in the Washington Post, Kelley Tuesday took issue with everything from how she was portrayed as a “romantic rival” for Petraeus’ affections to media staking out her Bayshore Boulevard home. The comments are Kelley’s first since the scandal broke in November.

Audio: President's second oath of office

President Barack Obama’s first full day in office, a Tampa Bay Times reporter served as one of the pool reporters for the White House  press corps, which meant he covered all the president’s events and shared reports about them for the rest of the news media. Late in the day, he and the other pool reporters were summoned into the White House Map room for an unannounced event, marked “urgent.” Here is the audio of Obama's second, official oath of office.
