$1 million in TV ads coming to help Patrick Murphy
A week after the pro-Marco Rubio U.S. Chamber of Commerce began airing more than $1-million in TV ads casting Democratic U.S. Senate candidate as untrustworthy and the GOP's Senate Leadership Fund announced a similar ad campaign begining today, Democrats are sending in the cavalry. The Senate Majority PAC, which aims to help Democrats regain control of the senate, says it will begin a $1 million ad campaign next week - which is on top of the $10.5-million it intends to spend in September after the Democratic primary.
“Marco Rubio and his allies have always struggled with the truth and their recent attacks are no exception,” said Shripal Shah, spokesman for Senate Majority PAC. “We’re not going to let them get away with misleading voters just to help Marco Rubio further his 2020 presidential ambitions. Floridians deserve better, starting with a Senator who actually wants the job and will show up to work.”
The super PAC plans to announce the content of the ads next week. Murphy, still not well known across Florida faces a tough primary campaign against Democrat Alan Grayson and then potentially an even tougher campaign against Marco Rubio in the general election.
