President's trip occasions two District 9 luncheons

SEPTEMBER 21, 2006

President George Bush will surely rouse the spirits and generosity of the 300 guests expected to join him at a midday fundraiser for Gus Bilirakis on Thursday. The price of entry for the event -- $1,000 a ticket or $2,100 for a one-on-one photo opportunity -- even inspired Bilirakis' Democratic opponent. Phyllis Busansky is hosting a separate luncheon in protest. Below is an exerpt of the invitation Busansky's camp is circulating (full version is posted in comments)

If your homeowner insurance rates went up by $1,000 or more, I’d like to buy you lunch – and we can discuss ways we will fight back! And if your rates went up by $2,100 or more, you get lunch and a photo with me!

Please join me Thursday, September 21st at 1:30 PM at La Teresita restaurant, 3246 W. Columbus Dr., Tampa (located a few blocks southeast of Raymond James Stadium).
