Democrats: Negron Insurance King

That's what the Florida Democratic Party is calling Joe Negron, newly-minted Republican replacement for Mark Foley on the congressional ballot.

The party's press release notes a Ft. Myers News-Press story from August that showed Negron's short-lived bid for the Republican attorney general job was the biggest benefactor of insurance industry money among state House representatives at $82,800. The release also took a swipe at the five congressional members now embroiled in the Foley scandal.

"Just as the Foley Five put politics ahead of their responsibility to children under their supervision, Joe Negron has chosen campaign money over his responsibility to Florida’s homeowners," said spokesman Mark Bubriski. "For the Republican Party, common sense and the security of Floridians are too often trumped by politics."
