In Pensacola, Davis lashes out at Crist

Davispensacola
Jim Davis
went after Charlie Crist in the heart of the latest controversy - Pensacola. Here's what he had to say tonight before nearly 200 people at a Allen Chapel AME Church.

"I heard you all had a guest here today (boos). I'm not the candidate who was invited to that event. Do you realize Charlie Crist has been campaigning standing up with George Bush this entire campaign? Next to the insurance industry, George Bush has probably raised more money for Charlie Crist than anybody else. But now that the president is so remarkably unpopular, once again Charlie Crist refuses to stand up. Friends, the reason I am here is next time if we suffer a hurricane in this state, we do not need a governor who moves in direction the wind blows. We need a governor who stands up for what he believes in every day.

"Charlie said he couldn't join the president in Pensacola because he needed to stay and campaign in Florida. (Loud laughter; Davis shakes hand to show he is serious). "I'm running against the former education commissioner who doesn't know when the FCAT was given. I'm running against a guy who doesn't know who his own member of congress is. And I'm running against a guy who doesn't think Pensacola is part of Florida.

"Charlie Crist should have been here today because there's only two people in the United States of America right now that want to stay the course: George Bush and Charlie Crist."
