A buyer for Clay Shaw's house
Florida's congressional delegation and staffers of Rep. Clay Shaw held a reception honoring the departing Fort Lauderdale Republican in Washington on Tuesday night. Reps. Ric Keller, Mike Bilirakis, Jeff Miller, Tom Feeney and Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, among others, were joined by several retired members (including former CIA Director - and Shaw neighbor - Porter Goss) in giving nice tributes to Shaw.
Shaw noted that he had just received a call from former Sen. Bob Graham about the need to stay active in retirement.
"Both of us are going to stay very involved with the Everglades," Shaw said, adding that "I am going to be the same pain in the a-- that I've always been."
The best gossip of the night came from Shaw himself. He said he has sold his Capitol Hill townhouse to Vern Buchanan, the winner (so far) in the disputed District 13 election. Shaw did not mention the price, but the fact Buchanan is buying is a sign he expects to stay.
