In signing bill, Crist remembers 'Stan'

Gov. Charlie Crist will sign the property insurance bill during a 10 a.m. gathering Thursday outside the Capitol, then fly to two other areas for ceremonial signings.

He'll travel to North Palm Beach then the Port Charlotte home of Stanley Whitney, 78, one of the many Floridians to have written the governor about crushing property insurance. The letter, supersized on an easel, was featured in a Crist news conference last week.

"Remember Stan," Crist famously said, prodding the Legislature to not lose track of ordinary people in the final days of negotiations. "We've got to make sure we keep Stan in mind."
