Mitt, for a change

About 30 lawmakers joined former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney for lunch Monday at the Governor's Club in Tallahassee. Romney reviewed his record in Massachusetts and talked of his support for a strong military, the President's troop surge in Iraq, a national catastrophic fund and repeal of the capital gains tax.

On his much-talked-about changing positions on abortion, Romney said he was "always personally pro-life," and that as a candidate for governor he promised he would not change the law, but while in office opposed measures he saw as liberalizing abortion rights.

"I changed my view. So did Ronald Reagan and George Herbert Walker Bush," Romney said. "If you want to see my views, look at my record ... I am not the most conservative on every issue you'll find.
