The original Jim Smith land deal

It appears Pinellas County's swift, $225,000 purchase of Property Appraiser Jim Smith's vacant land in June wasn't the first notable deal Smith got on the property. He only had to put $100 down in 1994 when he bought it. To read more from Sunday's St. Petersburg Times, click here.

To reference all previous stories on the county's purchase of the property, click here. The Pinellas grand jury, after two days of inquiry last week on the county's buy, is expected to resume its questioning of key players, including Smith, on Wednesday.
