Pro tax amendment group launches Web site

"Yes on 1, Save Our Homes Now," the pro property tax amendment group Gov. Charlie Crist helped launch earlier this week, has a Web site. The site includes "fast facts" which blame local governments for using increased property tax revenue "to greatly expand their budgets and reserves, instead of returning it to Florida’s families and small businesses."

The site also promises to log in financial contributions. Right now it shows a $2,046 in-kind contribution from the Florida Association of Realtors. The Realtors have pledged $1-million toward passing the so-called super homestead exemption plan.

The group's effort is just a preview of things to come. The Buzz spied a Chamber lobbyist this week with a draft mail piece showing a dripping hypodermic needle -- the punch line being that local government has an addiction to spending tax dollars.
