Praying for Republican victory

Stickers_3_2
Sunday's Republican Party "Presidency IV" festivities in Orlando began with a prayer breakfast and a menu of bacon, eggs and a little more Hillary-bashing from one of the rising stars in the party -- even though party chairman Jim Greer told the crowd that the event would be a break from partisan politics.

"If the prospect of Hillary scares you, think of Hillary and Nancy (Pelosi) as a tag team. We've got to stop that," U.S. Rep. Adam Putnam, R-Bartow, told a crowd of more than 2,000 people. "We've got some ground to take back in Florida, don't we?"

Sen. Mike Fasano, R-New Port Richey, also spoke, as did Rabbi Schneur Oirechman of Chabad Lubavitch in the Panhandle, who recently helped Gov. Charlie Crist display a mezuzah, or sacred Jewish scroll, on the door to his Capitol office.

Putnam's arrival was delayed when he tried to get in without a laminated floor pass. Ushers posted at each doorway are serious about those passes. "Sorry, but you have to have a badge," usher Mary Jo Bailey told the 33-year-old Putnam, whom she did not seem to recognize. Then the No. 3 man in the House Republican heirarchy went off to get a floor pass.
