UF's Machen endorses McCain

Hmmm, maybe not all academia types are liberal after all. UF President Bernie Machen, in a rare move for a university leader, told the local paper he will endorse not Hillary or Obama for the Jan. 29 primary  -- but U.S. Sen. John Mccain.

Machenofficial_small Machen said he supports the push by McCain, R-Arizona, for immigration and government spending reforms.

The endorsement is timely. McCain campaigns in Florida this week, and has a planned stop in Gainesville.
