McCain selects Florida gov as running mate

Vp

Wolf Blitzer tonight broke the news that presumptive Republican presidential nominee John McCain has looked to Florida for his running mate.

"Sen. McCain has played the Florida card," Blitzer said. "He is reaching into the Sunshine State for the top political talent that he hopes will guarantee that on election night, Florida once again will be in the GOP column."

Cue the scene of Lt. Gov. Jeff Kottkamp being interviewed on CNN.

Blitzer, whose mother lives in Florida, went along with the gag, which helped close out the 2008 press skits at the Moon in Tallahassee. It was a joke, folks.

(Lest we forget who is the real star, Crist showed up fashionably late with Time political reporter Mark Halperin in tow. That morning, the governor was featured in the New York Times.)
