Crist on oil drilling -- then and now

The place: a side meeting room in a hotel at Disney World, Oct. 20, 2007, the start of Presidency IV, the state Republican Party convention featuring all nine GOP presidential hopefuls. The questioner was David Jackson, a political reporter for USA Today (The Buzz still has it on tape).

Jackson: "I'm David Jackson from USA Today. What are Florida Republicans looking for in the next presidential nominee?"

Gov. Charlie Crist: "Well, somebody who cares about Florida. I think all these great candidates do. I think they want somebody -- I know they do -- who will help us with national catastrophic insurance. That's very important to us. Protecting our beautiful Everglades. It's not just a national treasure, it's an international treasure. Making sure that we don't drill for oil off our beautiful shore, and, of course, the other traditional things that go along with it."
