Crist, Rome set a date for wedding
UPDATE: Looks like the governor and his wife-to-be may celebrate their nuptials at the Renaissance Vinoy, the premier downtown St. Petersburg venue where Crist held his 2006 election celebration and has been seen lounging by the pool.
"He has made inquiries, and we would welcome the opportunity to host the governor's wedding at the Renaissance Vinoy," said Dennis Lesko, director of sales and marketing.
Lesko said he didn't think any contracts had been signed.
"I believe it's still in negotiation," he said. "I expect the governor is still shopping (venues)."

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. (AP) — A date's been set.
Governor Charlie Crist said Friday that he and Carole Rome will tie the knot December 12 in St. Petersburg. He didn't give any further details.
The couple got engaged July 3. Crist met Rome less than a year ago.
Rumors have swirled that Crist is among the contenders as Senator John McCain's running mate on the Republican ticket. Crist said he and his fiancee have not talked about the possibility of moving to Washington if he's tapped.
