Shortcake for good luck, Sen. Obama

Barack Obama just left the Parkesdale Farm market in Plant City, where owner Jim Meeks told him former President Bush, President George W. Bush, former Gov. Jeb Bush, and former Rep. Mike Bilirakis had all visited and sampled the strawberry shortcake.

"And guess what? They all won their elections," Meeks said.

"I should get some shortcake too," the candidate said. Unfortunately for Obama, strawberries are out of season so he had to settle for a strawberry milkshake, which Meeks assured him would be good luck as well.

Obama dropped $124.37 for a bag of oranges, a crate of peaches and 50 milkshakes for the press corps and campaign staff.
