Wasserman Schultz to nominate Obama

How's this for making a show of unity: U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz of Broward County, one of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's biggest supporters in Florida, will formally nominate Sen. Barack Obama as the Democratic nominee for president today.

The party's 4,440 delegates today are voting on the nomination, which will culminate in a roll call vote of the states this evening, around 7 p.m. EDT.  Wasserman Schultz is one of four delegates picked to speak on behalf of Obama. Three delegates will speak in favor of Clinton, convention officials said.

As Buzz is writing this, outside near the Colorado Convention Center, where Clinton will address her delegates in a couple hours, about a dozen women decked out in Hillary wear and shaking tambourines are walking up 16th Street, chanting, "Hillary the Smart Choice."

(As one passer-by noted, "It's a little late for that").
