Amid all the Democratic turmoil over uncounted primary votes and banished delegates, folks often forget Florida Republicans also were punished for busting the official primary schedule. Despite an appeal from the RPOF, the national party cut Florida delegation in half, from 114 to 57. With Barack Obama calling now calling for full voting strength for the FL and MI delegations, that means Florida Democrats may technically wind up with more of a voice in their nomination than FL Republicans (In reality of couse, FL Republicans basically decided the nomination 1/29, while Democrats were more or less irrelevant).

RPOF Chairman Jim Greer on Saturday sent a slate of 57 Florida delegates to be certified, but said he has been assured by John McCain that Florida is fine sending 114 delegates and 111 alternates. Unlike some GOP chairs, he's also not chafing at the prospect of only 57 being able to vote for McCain as the nominee: "The actual count of how many votes will be cast is not relevant because we don't have a disputed nomination," Greer told Buzz. "But I do think it is important and I will continue to figt for Florida to have a full delegation at the convention."
