State GOP chairman looking national?
Florida GOP Chairman Jim Greer sounds like he's angling to become the next chairman of the Republican National Committee. No, he doesn't explicitly say so, but that's the Buzz around the Twin Cities and Greer clearly has some strong ideas about the RNC.
"What I'm interested in is not my election but a change in how we do business. The national party needs new energy, new ideas, some stronger leadership, and a better process of communicating our message,'' said Greer, a newcomer in the RNC who has been speaking to a number of delegation this week, including addressing new RNC members. "There's a lot of frustration among some states who feel exactly like I do."
Others said to be in the mix include South Carolina chairman Katon Dawson, Michigan chairman Saul Anuzis, and Shawn Steele, a national committeeman from California. If McCain wins in November and takes an active role in the party chair race, that presumably could be a boost for Greer, given how much McCain owes Charlie Crist and Florida.
