Boulware-Vasilinda race getting nastier

More fire in the Tallahassee House race between Democrat Michelle Rehwinkel Vasilinda and Republican Peter Boulware ... Democrats have filed an elections complaint, while Republicans are railing against an "illegal" attack ad on TV.

(read all about it below)

The elections complaint
asserts Boulware, who is making a serious run at the Democratic seat,
has improperly used Legacy Toyota ads to promote his name. It also
charges the former FSU football player with continuing to violate the
school's trademark spear in campaign signs. (The Buzz previously covered this issue.)

"It's
seems that Peter Boulware will do just about anything to get elected,
whether it’s defying FSU by continuing to use its trademark or breaking
election law with car commercials," said FSU grad Kenneth Quinnell, who
filed the complaint.

But the Boulware campaign is demanding local TV stations stop airing
an ad, paid for by the Democratic Party of Florida, because it lists
names of candidates who are not opposing Boulware. More here. And here is the Democratic response.

From Boulware spokeswoman Sarah Bascom: "Peter’s Tallahassee business television ads are no different than
Michelle’s official campaign photo displayed on the Tallahassee
Community College website, which reaches thousands of people in
connection with her employment."

“In regards to the Seminole Spear, we have made every effort to comply
with FSU’s request to not use the trademarked spear.  We have done our
due diligence by making sure nearly all of the thousands of signs
throughout the community have been replaced with new signs or the spear
has been painted over on the existing ones.

“Furthermore, it is ironic that in the process of filing unfounded and
politically-motivated election violations on Peter, Rick Minor and the
Democratic Party have in fact violated the law themselves with the
releasing of the confidential complaint earlier today.”

Tomorrow, Boulware gets some last-minute fundraising help from would-be House colleagues.
