Another competitor for Greer

Jim Greer says he's running for re-election as state Republican Party chairman. But he has also been exploring the contours of a run for head of the Republican National Committee. And just as competition is lining up for the state gig, the field is growing nationally.

The Buzz is that today or tomorrow in Florida, Michael Steele (left) will announce he is running for RNC chairman. Steele, the former lieutenant governor of Maryland, is in Palm Beach for a post-election meeting of GOPAC. Steele is chairman of the group, which includes former Florida House Speaker Marco Rubio.

Current RNC Chairman Mike Duncan has said he wants to stay, but the pressure is on to find a new direction, a new face.
