Martinez squiring Rubio around D.C.

Who was that fellow escorting Marco Rubio yesterday into the office of Sen. John Cornyn, head of the National Republican Senatorial Committee? None other than outgoing Sen. Mel Martinez. Hmmm. Does that mean Martinez is backing Rubio as his successor?

Probably not necessarily. While it's hard to imagine Martinez accompanying his old rival Bill McCollum around Washington, it wouldn't be unexpected to see him extending the courtesy to someone like Vern Buchanan, his former Florida finance chairman.
