Gaetz busts joke on 'Air Kottkamp'

Lt. Gov. Jeff Kottkamp has become a laugh line.

Sen. Don Gaetz's committee on the economy just took up a proposed sales tax exemption for fractional aircraft ownership. Afterward, Gaetz said if it doesn't spur business development and get more flights to Tallahassee, then "I understand Air Kottkamp is going to set up."

The jab drew a loud groan from a large audience in 412 Knott. "We can't let Sen. Bennett have the only one-liners of the day," said Gaetz, R-Niceville. (Bennett, for the record, had not yet opened his mouth.)

Kottkamp is facing questions about his use of state aircraft. He defends the use as appropriate, given the large size of the state and his duties to assist the governor in ceremonial and other duties.
