Atwater, in future Prez nod, passes Senate fundraising torch to Haridopolos

Sen. Mike Bennett will no doubt keep maneuvering to change the tide, but Senate President Jeff Atwater signaled this week that Sen. Mike Haridopolos has the votes locked up to lead the Senate next -- turning over Senate campaign fundraising duties to Haridopolos.

Haridopolos and Atwater were both in Tallahassee this week, meeting with some of the Capitol circle's more money-savvy lobbyists and movers and shakers.

The handover ensures Haridopolos will be busy for the next 18 months leading up to the 2010 elections, but it also has practical merit -- freeing up Atwater to concentrate on his run for the CFO spot.
