Charlie Crist breaks silence on Dick Cheney
The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee is promoting the laughable
notion that Gov. Charlie Crist is ducking questions on whether he would campaign
with former Vice President Dick Cheney.
Silly DSCC. Crist ducks almost every question. Still, we gave it a shot. We
asked Crist if, like Republican Senate campaign chief and Sen. John Cornyn of
Texas, he would "be proud" to campaign with Cheney.
"Would I be proud to? Nobody's offered. Let's see. I don't want to deal in
hypotheticals," Crist said. "I think the vice president did a great job for
President Bush."
Huh? Anyone see Cheney's poll numbers? Well, maybe he made the former Prez
look better.
As for stumping with Cheney, it's certainly unlikely. Crist owes the former
v.p. nothing (and vice-versa). Remember it was gov-candidate Crist in 2006 who
declined to stump with then-President Bush. A far bigger deal. And it doesn't
matter anyway. The average Florida voter is far more worried about taxes,
healthcare, education, transportation, firearms and whatever else. Who really
cares about Dick, except for party/campaign hacks on both sides of
the aisle?
