Double-dipping ban next stop is gov's desk

After Rep. Rob Schenck, R-Spring Hill, called out the amendment placed on his bill by Sen. Al Lawson, D-Tallahassee, the House left the amendment in place and sent the double-dipping bill to the governor on a 93-23 vote.

Schenk said the amendment to extend the effective date from Jan. 1, 2010 to July 1, 2010 was placed on the bill in the Senate "because of a couple senators who were worried about friends of theirs..who will bilk the system some more.''

He said he found it ironic that "this bill is all about ending cronyism'' but it was amended to take effect later.
