Sources: Bronson will not run against McCollum

Agriculture Commissioner Charles Bronson will hold a "media availability" this afternoon in the Florida Press Center, and sources tell the Times/Herald he will announce his decision not to run for governor -- thus avoiding a primary battle with fellow Republican and Cabinet member Bill McCollum, who announced his candidacy earlier this week and is already touting his finance committee.

Bronson has gotten pressure in recent days from some in the RPOF, led by Chairman Jim Greer, not to run against McCollum. Greer last night in a letter to party supporters reiterated his support for McCollum as "the candidate in which 'all rivers were flowing towards.' " Bronson's term ends in 2010.
