Poll: Crist 59, Rubio 22; McCollum 41, Sink 39
Strategic Vision 5/29-31 poll (Moe +/-3):
“Governor Crist draws strong support and at this point there does not appear to be an opening for Rubio in his race against Crist,” said (David) Johnson. In a potential match-up between Crist and Democratic Congressman Kendrick Meek, 59% of respondents selected Crist, 29% supported Meek and 12% were undecided. In a match-up between Rubio and Meek, Rubio led with 31% to 30% for Meek and 39% undecided.
In a potential Republican primary for governor, 44% of respondents supported Attorney General Bill McCollum, with 28% supporting the potential candidacy of state Sen. Paul Dockery and 28% undecided.
“While McCollum starts off with a strong lead against a potential Dockery candidacy, it is not as overwhelming as would be expected,” said Johnson. “At this time the majority of support for Dockery must be seen as an anti-McCollum vote, which should be a cause of alarm for McCollum. Even more alarming for McCollum should be the large number of undecided voters. This would seem to indicate that McCollum could be vulnerable in a Republican primary.
In a potential general election match-up for governor between Bill McCollum and Democrat State CFO Alex Sink, 41% of respondents supported McCollum, 39% supported Sink and 20% were undecided. “The race for governor at this point is basically a tie,” said Johnson. “At this point there appears to be little enthusiasm for either candidate, with a large number of undecided."
