McCollum raises $1 m plus. Less than Sink.
Bill McCollum's campaign for governor is likely to announce a $1.05
$1.04m fundraising quarter, a source said.
Normally, that would be something to celebrate, but the Republican Attorney
General's Democratic opponent, CFO Alex Sink raised more ($1.3m) in
the quarter. And considering what she has in the bank ($2.1m) she has double the
cash on hand.
But she technically raised less per day. After all, Sink rolled over money
from some contributors who gave to her CFO campaign, which she opened in
January.
**Update, now that the numbers are online, it looks like Sink actually raised $110k more. Since 5/13, when she announced she was switching from running a re-election campaign to running for governor, she raised $1.15m. These numbers could change once again if the McCollum numbers turn out to be something else. So for the ten people who care about this on a lovely Friday afternoon, stay tuned.
Not all Sink CFO contributors want to be Sink governor contributors. About
$19,000 was refunded to contributors (e.g., Republican types) who asked
for their money back after she announced she was running for governor in May.
McCollum announced shortly afterward. Both Sink and McCollum announced their
bids for governor after Gov. Charlie Crist announced he would run for U.S.
Senate.
