Boyd featured on CNN dissing health care plan
CNN is following Congressman Allen Boyd today as he holds town hall meetings across North Florida. And Boyd, D-Monticello, is telling audiences he cannot support the current House bill, which includes a government-run insurance plan.
"We can do better," Boyd said, waving the bill before constituents in Cross City this morning. "We can make it better."
"So much for Democratic unity," says reporter Jessica Yellin (who began her broadcast career at Orlando's Central Florida News 13 and also worked in Tampa).
Yellin reports that Boyd is getting heat from both sides of the political spectrum. One man said, "If we let Pelosi and people like that direct us, we are doomed."
A member of the conservative Blue Dog caucus, Boyd has been on record for a while opposing the current plan. He supports fixing the current health care system or creating nonprofit cooperatives, a position favored by the Senate. (AP photo)
