Kosmas treads carefully on health care

U.S. Rep. Suzanne Kosmas, D-New Smyrna Beach, has broken her silence (sort of) on health care. In an op/ed in Florida Today this morning, she says reform is needed but expresses concern about the current proposal.

"I always have been committed to fiscal responsibility, and I am concerned independent analysis shows that no bill before Congress does enough to lower costs over the long-term while being deficit neutral," Kosmas writes.

What she does not plainly state is whether she supports the public plan that will co-exist with private insurance and whether she favors a tax on the wealthy or some other way of paying for the plan. The article reflects the delicacy of the issue for the freshman lawmaker, who took a Republican seat and is feeling re-election pressure.
