Larry Cretul will not run for Congress

Cretul House Speaker Larry Cretul, R-Ocala, has decided against running for Congress, according to a source familiar with his thinking.

Cretul, thrust into the speaker's job amid the Ray Sansom budget scandal, was mulling a challenge to Democratic incumbent Alan Grayson. But the GOP field was already getting crowded. Other possible GOP candidates include state Rep. Stephen Precourt of Orlando and Orange County Mayor Rich Crotty.
