The exodus continues from the governor's staff. Electra Bustle has announced her resignation from the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles where she has been executive director. Here's the note she sent out to her staff:

DHSMV Team,

It is with mixed emotions that today I tendered my resignation to the Governor and Cabinet effective September 15, 2009, as Executive Director of the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles.  My 2 ½ years as Executive Director have been some of the most challenging and rewarding times of my career and it is the people of DHSMV that have made an enduring mark on my life and career.  We have been through some tough economic times as a team but we have continued to make a difference- together.

I am especially proud of the work we have done over the last 2 ½ years and believe we have made the agency a more efficient, streamlined and flexible agency ready for its future and focused on the safety and security of Floridians and visitors alike.  We have put a strong team in place with a combination of new and veteran leaders who are ready and able to continue the forward progress. You all have a bright future and I look forward to hearing about your many successes!

It has been an honor to serve with each of you in a role and at a Department that positively impacts people’s lives every day. You are clearly committed to service and being a proactive, professional and proud Department focused on leading the way to a safer Florida. It has also been an honor and a blessing to be a public servant these last 12 years. I am looking forward to the opportunity that has been presented to me in the private sector with new challenges and new adventures waiting on that horizon.
