Holly Benson poised to join AG race Thursday

Former AHCA secretary and ex-state Rep. Holly Benson is returning to comfortable turf in Pensacola to announce her political plans Thursday. Benson is expected to enter the Republican primary for attorney general with an announcement at noon (CDT) on the steps of the Escambia County Courthouse.

Benson, 38, who served in the House from 2000-2007, was a municipal bond lawyer before joining the Crist administration. She was asked by Gov. Charlie Crist to resign as head of the Agency for Health Care Administration two weeks ago in anticipation of her race against Lt. Gov. Jeff Kottkamp.
