Dockery 'leaning very heavily' toward challenging McCollum

State Sen. Paula Dockery sounds even more convinced than she did earlier this month about challenging Bill McCollum for the GOP nomination for governor. "I'm leaning very heavily toward doing it," she said today.

We asked for an update after Dockery commented on a possible SunRail special session - an issue that would put her back in the spotlight during a convenient time for a gubernatorial aspirant. "If they are serious about SunRail," she said, "they need to cut a better deal. We’re throwing around taxpayer money like it’s Monopoly money."

Senate President Jeff Atwater, who is leading the special session call, said Dockery's concerns would have to be overcome. But he also praised her efforts, saying she "has been a real advocate for getting the issue right."
